What Silox is and what it is used for:

Silox (Flucloxacillin) is a preparation of It acts in a similar way to Penicillin by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It is used for the treatment of confirmed or suspected staphylococcal and other Gram-positive coccal infections. Indications include pneumonia, osteomyelitis, skin, and soft tissue and wound infections, infected burns, cellulitis.

Before you take Silox:

Probenecid decreases the renal tubular secretion of Flucloxacillin. Concurrent use with Flucloxacillin may result in increased and prolonged blood levels of Flucloxacillin. Pregnancy and breast-feeding Pregnancy category B.

How to take Silox:

Use Sicef as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

Possible side effects:

Side effects, as with other penicillins, are uncommon and mainly of mild and transitory in nature. Gastrointestinal upsets (e.g., nausea, diarrhea) and skin rashes have been reported. If a skin rash occurs, treatment should be discontinued. Hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice have been rarely reported. Tell your doctor if any of the side effects gets serious or lasts longer than a few days, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet.

How to store Silox:

Store in a cool and dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
